PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel decoration pretreatment method and apparatus therefor which improve adhesion of coating and a coating film by uniformly applying ultraviolet rays on a surface in a pre-stage of decoration such as painting or printing to a resin molding product having an irregular curved surface and molded to a relatively large size. SOLUTION: This decoration pretreatment apparatus 1 comprises a light source unit 41 for applying ultraviolet rays, and an irradiating chamber 3 equipped with the light source unit 41, wherein before decorating a work W, the light source unit 41 applies rays to the work W set in the fixed state while being transferred along the surface, and the transfer is kept in the state where the irradiation distance and the transferring speed are substantially constant, and the irradiation is directed from the normal direction of a portion to be irradiated in the work W.
