ZINC OXIDE POWDER AND ITS SYNTHESIS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wet synthesis method of zinc oxide powder by which fine zinc oxide powder having uniform particle size and stable quality is continuously synthesized, and to provide a method to synthesize zinc oxide powder without surface treatment while suppressing photocatalytic activity. SOLUTION: Zinc oxide powder is continuously synthesized by bringing an acidic aq. soln. containing zinc by 1 equiv. brought into contact with an alkali aq. soln. by >1 and <=1.5 equiv. and immediately dropping the soln. into a large amt. of flowing aq. soln. The temp. of the aq. soln. flowing in a large amt. is controlled to between >=20 deg.C and <=80 deg.C. The obtd. zinc oxide powder by the synthesis above described has <0.05μm particle size with suppressed photocatalytic activity.
