PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable obtaining the subject polymer having a good color tone industrially and stably by hydrogenating a conjugated diene polymer obtained by using an organic alkali metal compound as a polymerization initiator, with a metallocene catalyst and then performing a specific treatment. SOLUTION: This method for producing a hydrogenated polymer having an improved color tone, is provided by hydrogenating a conjugated diene polymer obtained by using an organic alkali metal compound as a polymerization initiator, with (A) a metallocene catalyst (suitably a titanocene catalyst) and then reacting the metallocene catalyst in the presence of (B) an organometallic compound capable of reducing the metallocene catalyst (e.g.; an organic lithium compound). Then, the polymer is brought into contact with (C) an active hydrogen-containing compound for reacting. In the case that the component A is the titanocene catalyst, the adding amount of the component B is preferably 0.7-5 equivalent. Preferably, >=50% alkali metal contained in the polymer is neutralized and/or removed at the same time and/or after the reaction with the component C, and then an antioxidant is added. A hindered phenol-based antioxidant is preferable.
