PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the quantity of dust in a dust collection chamber by detecting at least the quantity of dust in the dust collection chamber or the closed state of an air duct on the basis of a change in build-up electrical current detected by an electrical current detecting means within a prescribed preset period, immediately after an operating switch of the operating section is turned on. SOLUTION: A two-way thyristor 3 is connected between a commercial power supply 1 and a blower motor 2, the electrical current sensor 4a of an electrical current detecting means 4 that detects the electrical current of the blower motor 2 is connected in series with the blower motor 2. Output of the electrical current detecting means 4 is inputted to the dust quantity and closure detecting means 6 of a microcomputer 5, and the blower motor 2 is controlled by phase controlling electrical current by the phase control means 7a of a control means 7 in accordance with the result of the detection and a variety of information to be output to a display section 9 are controlled by a display control means 7b. On this occasion, the detection of the quantity of dust and closure is performed immediately after the operating switch of the operating section 8, and correct information is secured immediately after starting the use.
