PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit the miniaturization of size with a simplified constitution and retain high strength in the reel body of a double bearing reel having a large gear ratio. SOLUTION: In this reel, the reel body 1 is mounted to a fishing rod and a fishing line is wound up with a spool that is rotated by the rotation of a handle set on side around a shaft crossing the longitudinal direction of the fishing rod and is equipped with a reel frame 5, a first and a second side covers 13 and 14. The reel frame 5 is equipped with a pair of side plates 10, 11 that are arranged at a certain interval in the direction crossing the longitudinal direction, a plurality of connection parts 12 for connecting the side plates 10, 11, and a rod attachment part 4 that is set to one connection part 12 for attaching the reel to the fishing rod. The side plate 10 is cut in a non-circular shape at a part of its outer surface and the remaining of the outer surface is cut in a circular shape. The covers 13, 14 on both sides are the covers for covering the outer sides of the pair of the side plates 10, 11, respectively.
