A suction force is applied to the shoe (1) via the hydraulic element (6) normally used to urge it against the counter-roll (2). A method for withdrawing a press shoe from an extended nip-type shoe press for a paper or board machine, the shoe being urged against a counter-roll by at least one hydraulic element, comprises applying a suction force to the shoe via the hydraulic element instead of a press force. Independent claims are also included for (a) the withdrawal system, comprising a vacuum source (21) connected to the hydraulic element by a pipe (23), and (b) a shoe press containing this system. |
