摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a material which may be produced with productivity of about the same extent as the productivity of amorphous material and exhibits the performance and efficiency of about the same extent as those of crystalline material by irradiating an amorphous preform with pulse light or condensing the pulse light thereto, thereby selectively depositing a single crystal or polycrystal on the irradiated or the condensed light portion. SOLUTION: The amorphous preform having the composition relatively approximate to the composition of the crystal to be deposited is irradiated with the pulse light, such as a laser beam, to deposit the single crystal or polycrystal having nonlinearity on the irradiated portion. The crystal is deposited while an external field, such as an electric field or magnetic field, is applied to the crystal before, during or after the irradiation with the pulse light or in combination thereof, by which the treatment, such as bearing control or single domain formation of the deposited crystal is executed. As another method for controlling the bearing of the crystal, a seed crystal or crystalline substrate is brought into contact with the crystal and the crystal is irradiated with the pulse light in such a manner that the crystallization is started from the contact portion. The crystal having functions, such as cubic nonlinear optical effect, magneto-optical effect, photo-electric effect, action as a laser oscillation medium, may be formed as the crystal to be deposited.
