PURPOSE: Load compensating method is provided to prevent an engine from stopping by compensating an abnormal engine rpm(revolutions per minute) during idling. CONSTITUTION: Drop deviation of engine rpm(revolutions per minute) occurs dependent upon operation of each load in an idling state of engine and the drop rpm is advanced normally then a specific time passes by. Rest value that a target rpm is subtracted from a current rpm is bigger than a reference value of a cooling water temperature. In such case, load is compensated under a condition that a load learning value£nj|=load learning value£nj-1|+load learning measured value and the load learning value£n0|=0. With engine rpm dropped during idling, the load learning value is added to a basic compensated amount of cooling water temperature by each load for compensating the drop deviation of rpm. Therefore, drop deterioration of engine rpm caused by aging of vehicle is suppressed and a stable idling value is obtained at the same time as preventing stop of engine operation in the idling state.
