PURPOSE: A TPH(Thermal Printer Head) driver of a color printer is provided to reduce a data processing charge of a processor, to print at high speed and to prevent a reduction of a printing quality by limiting a continuous driving of a specific heating element. CONSTITUTION: A TPH driver contains printing timing signal generators(611-61N) to output a deciding signal corresponding to a tone level by discriminating a printing timing based on tone data through data buses(D0-D15); printing data output devices(631-63N) to generate printing data for driving the TPH based on the discriminating signal and to output preheating data for preheating the TPH by control data; odd/even data generators(1001-100N)) to generate printing data of two bits based on printing data of one bit from each printing data output device(631-63N) and a control signal; a shift register(64) to shift the printing data for the TPH; and a processor to feed the control data into the printing data output devices(631-63N) and the odd/even data generators(1001-100N)) and to input tone data from a computer into the tone comparators(611-61N) by dividing to odd numbers and even numbers. By tone-processing the THP with the tone comparators and the tone counter, a data processing charge of the processor is reduced. By printing with dividing heating elements into even numbers and odd numbers, a thermal accumulated event of the specific heating element is prevented.
