LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY ELEMENT AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PURPOSE: An LCD and manufacturing method thereof are provided to form a conductor-inlaid alignment layer polymer barrier for inducing a parallel electric field in the upper of a counter electrode and a pixel electrode, thereby minimizing a parasitic electric field between a data line and the counter electrode, and a noise field between the counter electrode and a drain electrode. CONSTITUTION: A hole is formed by etching an alignment layer(11) of polymer material to open the upper of a counter electrode(2B) and a pixel electrode(5B). The width of the hole is smaller than that of the counter electrode(2B) and the pixel electrode(5B), and an ITO material is buried inside the hole. A mask pattern for exposing the counter electrode(2B) and the pixel electrode(5B) is formed in the upper of the alignment(11). The width between the mask patterns is equal to that of the counter electrode(2B) and the pixel electrode(5B). A polymer barrier(10) is formed by etching the alignment layer(11) in the form of the mask pattern. The width of the polymer barrier(10) is equal to that of the counter electrode(2B) and the pixel electrode(5B). The polymer barrier(10) on the counter electrode(2B) and the pixel electrode(5B) induces a parallel electric field between the counter electrode(2B) and the pixel electrode(5B).
