PURPOSE: A method for designating a channel in a DLC(Digital Line Concentrator) is provided to reassign unused trunk channels to subscribers among 128 trunk channels, and to give mobility for trunk line assignments, so as to receive more subscribers. CONSTITUTION: A line processor periodically scans a DLC(120), and periodically checks a state of the DLC(120). The line processor periodically checks a margin of the DLC(120) assigned in a time switch(110) according to the scanning period, and reports the checked result to a DLC state manager(130). The DLC state manager(130) receives the margin result and stores the margin result in a digital state managing table. The line processor senses preparation rate information, and if the line processor informs the DLC state manager(130) of the preparation rate information, a table of the DLC state manager(130) is updated as new data. The line processor decides whether a preparation rate failure is generated in a table of the DLC(120). If not, the line processor transmits a concentration ratio and preparation rate information to an input/output unit(150). If the preparation rate failure is generated, the line processor informs the input/output unit(150) of the failure through an alarm processor(140).
