PURPOSE: A recording method of a DVDR(Digital Video Disc Recorder) system is provided to play back data at random by using TOC(Table Of Content) data reset in recording new data on a disk. CONSTITUTION: Data are recorded on a disk, and a start position of data recording is checked. If the start position is in an Nth track, the start position is reset as the start point of the Nth track. Then, an end position of data recording is checked. If the end position is within an Mth track, the end position is reset as the end point of the Nth track. Herein, the M is larger than or the same as the N. Track numbers after the Mth track are reset according to track numbers after the Nth track respectively. The reset data are written as TOC and recorded on user's TOC data area. The TOC data area is allocated to the read-in area of a disk, and data of track numbers and start/end points of a track are recorded on the TOC data area. Therefore, the data are played back more exactly by referring to the TOC data.
