PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piezoelectric vibrating element for making it unnecessary to cut a corner part for directing at the time of cutting plural quadrilateral element boards from the mother board of a piezoelectric element board, and ensuring a piezoelectric element board which can be practically used by using the large part of the mother board, and a method for manufacturing this piezoelectric vibrating element. SOLUTION: Two exciting electrodes 21 are arranged so as to face each other along one diagonal line on one main face of a quadrilateral piezoelectric element board 20, and lead electrodes 22 are extended from each exciting electrode to each element board edge in this piezoelectric exciting element. The quadrilateral piezoelectric element board 20 is shaped like a diamond and an AT cut crystal element board, and one diagonal line is obtained as a line along an X-axial direction, and this AT cut crystal element board has a diamond shape whose X-axial directional length is made longer than a Z-axial directional length orthogonally crossing the X-direction.
