PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of surely eliminating water that has invaded a refrigeration cycle on the occasion of installation work at a site or the like and eliminating a hydrolysis product. SOLUTION: In a cycle wherein a compressor 2, a four-way valve 3, an outdoor heat exchanger 4, a drier 7, an expansion valve or a capillary tube 8, 12, an indoor heat exchanger 9, an accumulator 14 and the like are sequentially connected so as to circulate a refrigerant, molecular sieves 5 are provided in a center part of the drier 7 and a filter for capturing a foreign matter such as dust, metal particles or the like is provided both before and after or either before or after the sieves, and branch pipes 15, 16 are provided to a refrigerant pipe 10 before and after a vicinity of the drier 7, and valves 17, 18 are provided in distal ends or halfway parts of the branch pipes 15, 16.
