PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an MD recording device in which a user never understands erroneously that a recording device is faulty by preventing the occurrence of a problem that data are as much as possible recorded in blank parts disconnectedly at the time of rewriting of the data of an MD and the reproducing of the data is not performed smoothly at the time of reproducing. SOLUTION: A control circuit 2, a control circuit 3, a DRAM 4, a memory 6, a key matrix 7, a display 8, a comparison time memory 12 and a key matrix 13 are connected so that they are compositely controlled by a system controller 5. The comparison time memory 12 is constituted so that when the time of a blank part which is generated when arbitrary musical data among data of plural pieces of music continuously recorded successively on voice data track of the MD are rewritten into the data of a different piece of music whose reproducing time is shorter than that of the reproducing time of the arbitrary piece of music, the system does not integrally count it as a remaining recording time. Moreover, this device is constituted so as not to perform the rewriting of the data posterior to the rewriting of the data of the arbitrary piece of musice.
