PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of automatically adjusting a projection condition by easy operation without causing the cost rising of a device as the projector using a light valve. SOLUTION: As for this projector 100, a specified image pattern is projected on a screen 200, while the same pattern as the image pattern is formed on the respective light valves 108 to 110, the quantity of reflected light from the screen 200 reversely advancing through a projection lens 102 and the light valves 108 to 110 is detected by a photodetecting element 114 through a half mirror 112 and a condensing lens 113, and the projection condition is automatically adjusted by a microcomputer 116 or the like based on the detected result.
