PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent overshoot of oil temperature according to the heat transfer characteristics of a pan by starting heating of a heating means at high heating level in the prestage of heating control and making a switch to low heating level when the temperature detected by a temperature sensor reaches a specified level lower than a lower limit temperature. SOLUTION: A temperature sensor 32 for detecting the outer bottom temperature of a pan 30 is disposed in the center of a gas burner 12 and connected with a CPU 28 through a temperature detecting circuit. A flame detector 34 is disposed in the vicinity of the gas burner 12 and connected with the CPU 28 through a flame detecting circuit. The CPU 28 is set with a pan bottom temperature corresponding to frying temperature, an upper limit temperature higher than the set pan bottom temperature and a lower limit temperature lower than the set pan bottom temperature and makes a switch to a low heating level when a decision is made that a specified temperature lower than the lower limit temperature is reached based on a detection signal from the temperature sensor 32.
