摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device, which employs nematic liquid crystal elements and has a fast response speed, and its driving method. SOLUTION: Liquid crystal elements are driven by the driving signals, which includes first, second and third signals 18, 21 and 24, respectively, so that the changes in the arrays of liquid crystal molecules are made smoother and the response speed is made faster. The signal 18 has a first driving frequency 16 and a first driving potential 17 so that the liquid crystal layer takes a hometropic array state. The signal 21 has a second driving frequency 19 and a second driving potential 20 to take a homogeneous array state. The signal 24 is provided while it is transitioned from the signal 21 to the signal 18 and has a frequency 25, which is lower than the frequency 19, and a potential 26 which is lower than the potential 20.
