PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of double images, moire fringes, Newton's rings or the like and to provide a thin-shaped, light weight reflective liquid crystal display device with high display quality. SOLUTION: On a plane placed opposite to a light-emitting surface of a light transmission body 103 constituting an illuminating means, a periodic structure in which a transmission part, transmitting an incident light from a light source 101, and a reflection part, reflecting the incident light, are located alternately in repetition is formed, together a direction of a period of the periodic structure is formed with an angle >=10 deg. and <=75 deg. with respect to a direction of repetition of pixel patterns formed on a liquid crystal display element. Furthermore, the periodic structure is formed to satisfy a relation P2<P1, where a width of the transmission part is P1 and that of the reflection part is P2. |
