PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting diode element the light emitting pattern of which can be improved in uniformity and, at the same time, can utilize zinc diffusion in its manufacturing process. SOLUTION: In an LED array for LED printing head, Zn diffusing areas 12 are arranged on the surface of a GaAsP substrate 10 in an array form and LEDs which use the p-n junctions between the substrate 10 and areas 12 as light emitting sections are formed. On the Zn diffusing areas 12, scattering bodies 14 composed of truncated cone-like opal plates in which many light reflecting particles are scattered are formed. The light rays emitted from the p-n junctions between the substrate 10 and areas 12 are condensed upon a photosensitive drum and form very small dot images on the photosensitive surface of the drum through an unmagnified image forming optical system after the uneven light quantity of a nonuniform luminous pattern is corrected to a uniform light quantity by means of the scattering bodies 14. |
