PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain easy connection with the outside, hardly have poor conductivity due to vibration fatigue at the time of driving, and have no adverse effect on electric characteristics of an element, by setting a contact resistance in a contact connection to a specified value or below when contact-connecting a driving electrode to an external connection terminal. SOLUTION: A piezoelectric transformer element 1 is divided from near the center in the longitudinal direction into a driving section 1A and a power generating section 1B in functional respect. In the driving section 1A, external electrodes 11 and inner electrodes 12 constitute a pair of input electrodes and are contact-connected to external connection terminals T1, T2. In the power generating section 1B, an output electrode 13 is formed at the edge. The power generating section 1B is polarized between the external electrodes 11, 11 and the output electrode 13. The output electrode 13 is led out by means of an extraction electrode 13a to be contact-connected to an external connection terminal T3. In the contact connection, a contact resistance is set to 100 mΩor below. As a result, even if a piezoelectric transformer is continuously used within a requested working temperature, a connection temperature never exceeds the Curie temperature.
