PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit the heat treatment of a heat treatable material using a temperature compensation system in order to lessen a down web concentration loss by selectively changing the temperature of heating members at the time the heat treatable material moves along a transporting path. SOLUTION: The down web concentration loss of the heat treatable material 34 is lessened by using the temperature compensation system in order to compensate the unbalance of the heat conduction of the heat treating device 20. In firmwearing, a controller 40 compares an output signal with the prescribed temperature set points stored in a memory in accordance with the position of the heat treatable material along the transporting path 35. The controller 40 provides heaters 82 with the corresponding output signals in accordance with these set points. If the increase of the temperature of the heating members 80 is desirable, the controller 40 provides the changes corresponding to the prescribed set points. In another application, the zero point or offset of the software is so changed that the temperature. of the heating members 80 is increased or decreased to the desirable value after the calibration of the control system 30 including the controller 40, the heaters 82 and the heating members 80.
