发明名称 PASTE TYPE ELECTRODE FOR STORAGE BATTERY
摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower the internal pressure of a battery using a hydrogen storage alloy electrode as a negative electrode, and improve the discharging capacity and the discharging characteristic by coating or filling a substrate for collector with a slurry obtained by adding carbon black having a specified specific surface area and crushed to fine particles as a conductive agent to the active material powder, and kneaded with a thickener and a binder, and drying and pressurizing them. SOLUTION: Carbon black having a specific surface area at 700 m2/g or more is used. Desirably, the carbon black is mainly composed of fine particles having a particle diameter at 90-98% of 325 mesh pass or less, and as an active material powder, hydrogen storage alloy powder is used. The carbon black is composed exclusively of fine particles, and the fine particles are evenly dispersed in an electrode filled with the slurry, and evenly interposed between the hydrogen storage alloy powder particles and between the particles and a porous group, and conductivity of the electrode is thereby improved. Charging and discharging characteristic of an alkaline storage battery using this paste as a negative electrode is improved, and the battery internal pressure restricting effect is improved, and a nickel-hydrogen battery having an excellent cycle lifetime is thereby obtained.
