PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video signal transmitter that selects signal processing for a video signal automatically in response to a format of a CCD unit of a video camera. SOLUTION: The video signal transmitter is provided with a CCD unit 2 that picks up image of an object, an optical fiber 5 that transmits a video signal of picked up image, and a CPU 6 that applies signal processing to the transmitted video signal. Since the video signal processed by the video signal transmitter includes valid line number information to identify the number of valid vertical lines of a video signal of picked up image, even when the format of the video signal of picked up image by a replaced CCD unit of 1035 lines/1080 lines is changed, because the signal is automatically processed at post-stages depending on the valid line number information, adjustment and setting changes attended with the format change are not required, the circuit is designed in common and the cost reduction is realized by unification of models.
