PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to infer the factor and to perform a proper adjustment for recovering the correct operation by providing an image display device with a discharge detecting means for detecting discharge and a discharge recording means for recording the information on the detected discharge when abnormal discharge occurs between an element substrate and a fluorescent plate. SOLUTION: A discharge recording part is composed of a discharge recording control part 6008, a memory 6009, an interface 6010, a connector 6011 for connecting external equipment, etc. The discharge recording control part 6008 writes the information sent from an anode current detecting part 6005 in the memory 6009 and also reads data from the memory 6009 and outputs them at the time of reading the discharge information, for example, when a serviceman performs maintenance, etc. The discharge recording control part 6008, when an anode current not less than a specified value is made to flow from the anode current detecting part 6005, records the date of occurrence and the level of the anode current.
