摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact and highly-sensitive gas-measuring device by light, and an expiration-testing method utilizing the device. SOLUTION: At a gas sensor part 40 using a small ball, incidence light from an optical fiber 42 partially enters a small ball resonator 46 via a prism 44. The diameter of the small resonator 46 ranges from severalμm to several mm. In the small ball resonator 46, a resonance state results since light rotates inside (whisper corridor mode). In this state, gas being contained in the atmosphere can be measured by detecting the interaction between an evanescent field 43 due to light leaking from the small ball and the atmosphere. In this manner, an effect that is the same effect as that obtained when a light path is extended can be obtained since light is rotating in the small ball resonator 46, thus detecting the gas in the atmosphere with high sensitivity. When an expiration test is performed with the gas-measuring device, incidental facilities are not required, thus the expiration test the can be easily effected.
