PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cool a grating effectively by bringing cooling liquid into contact with the grating and opening each hollow chamber of the grating especially downward. SOLUTION: Each grating rod 2 has a cover wall 4 at an upper position and the cover wall 4 is coupled with a side wall 6 being bent downward from the side such that a hollow chamber 7 opening downward is surrounded by the cover wall 4 and the side wall 6. Spray units are arranged in the ventilation range 8 under the grating and each spray unit has a stationary spray chamber 10 extending laterally. Each spray tube 10 belongs to a row 1, 1' of grating rod 2 and respective spray tubes have sequential spray nozzles 11 which spray cooling liquid, i.e., water, along the width of the grating over a substantially uniform specified angular range 12. Consequently, steam generated in the ventilation range 8 under the grating reaches the inside of a combustion chamber 9 along with the primary air and heat of evaporation is recovered therefrom.
