PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact video recording device which can be mounted on a gun and is useful in recording a video image before and after firing. SOLUTION: This video recording device 300 is mounted on a gun 304 so that the visual field of the camera includes the target area of the gun. Video image sensors generate electric signals, showing video images acting to respect sensors. While the video recording device is active, the outputs of the image sensors are processed and used to generate normal frame data, which are stored successively in successive frame positions of a semiconductor memory constituted as a cyclic buffer memory. When the gun is fired, additional frame is stored in a short-period buffer memory, part of which is used to store video records of the firing before and after the event. Thus, the video records which substantiate the states before and after the gun is fired are generated.
