PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve light emitting efficiency by providing the double-layers structure of a first barrier rib layer formed on a board and having a predetermined height and a second barrier rib layer formed on the first barrier rib layer, and forming the first barrier rib layer with a groove area as a discharge space between the second barrier rib layer. SOLUTION: In this barrier rib structure formed of a first barrier rib layer 40a and a second barrier rib layer 40b, an insulating material having a high reflectance such as glass is used as a material for the first and the second barrier rib layers 40a, 40b. The first barrier rib layer 40a is formed of an insulating board having about 200μm of thickness, and has a semi-spherical groove 42 having about 130μm of radius in a top surface at a predetermined part. A flat part 43 of the barrier rib wall layer 40a is formed with the second barrier rib layer 40b formed with strip ribs 46, 47 vertically standing from the flat part with a predetermined width in parallel with each other in both ends of one picture element. With this structure, surface area of a phosphor layer 45 inside of a discharge space 30 can be enlarged so as to improve the light emitting efficiency of a plasma display panel.
