PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an electrophotographic receptor from being reduced in electrostatic chageability and from being increased in residual potential even for repeated use without impairing high sensitivity. SOLUTION: This electrophotographic photoreceptor has at least a photosensitive layer on a conductive substrate. The photosensitive layer contains titanyl phthalocyanine and contains zirconium oxide. Preferably, the titanyl phthalocyanine has a crystalline form showing peaks of Bragg angle 2θat least at 9.6 deg.±0.2 deg., 24.0 deg.±0.2 deg. and 27.2 deg.±0.2 deg. in the X-ray diffraction spectrum for Cu-Kαline.
