PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of raising the linearity of the current-voltage characteristics of a photoelectronic device by controlling the wavelength of light. SOLUTION: Photoelectronic device is irradiated by the light of a wavelength shorter (an energy higher than a prescribed energy) than a prescribed wavelength. whereby the current-voltage characteristics of the device are raised. The prescribed wavelength is set on the basis of an energy gap extending over from a valence band to an upper conduction band existing at an energy level higher than that of a lower conduction band. Here, when the curves 20 and 30 of the current-voltage characteristics are compared with each other, the linearity of the current-voltage characteristics at the time of a light source wavelength (λ)=674 nm (the curve 30) is more excellent than that of the current- voltage characteristics at the time of a light source wavelength (λ)=827 nm (the curve 20). That is, by changing the light source wavelength from the 827 nm into the 674 nm, a voltage index (α) is increased from 0.68 to 0.87. As a result, the linearity of the current-voltage characteristics is enhanced.
