[Also in Divisions B4 and F2] To maintain uniform spacing of successive operations of a perforating blade or blades 11 mounted on one cylinder 10 of a pair 10, 12, or of a pair of printing cylinders, on a continuously moving web of material passing between the cylinders, a gear 46/48 is mounted on the eccentric end 24 of a shaft 18, carrying the cylinder 10, by an eccentrically bored sleeve 28, keyed to the shaft end 24, in a manner allowing adjustment of the pitch circle axis of the gear relative to the shaft axis 35. The gear comprises two parts 46, 48, rotatably adjustable one relative to the other to take up backlash, secured together by screws 52. Screws 51 in oversize bores 40 through a flange 38 of sleeve 28 secure the gear to the sleeve. A stud 67 projecting from the gear is gripped in an oversize bore 42 of the flange 38 by opposed screws 45 adjustable for relative movement of the gear pitch circle and shaft axes. The gear meshes a gear 57 on the shaft 20 of cylinder 12.</p> |
