PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an original-document carrying device capable of steadily carrying an original document by the use of only one single small motor and also capable of driving a PS roller by the motor by reducing carrying load and minimizing load on the motor in the original-document carrying device of a double-sided original-document handling type. SOLUTION: Accompanying the rotation of the motor 70, in the case where the motor 70 normally rotates, a paper ejection roller 33 normally rotates for carrying the original document 3 in the direction of paper ejection, and in the case where the motor 70 reversely rotates, it reversely rotates for carrying the original document 3 to an inversion carrying path 36. On the other hand, in the case of the normal rotation of the motor 70, the PS roller 32 normally rotates to feed the original document 3 to an original-document reading position, and in the case of the reverse rotation of the motor 70, it stops the rotation by the release of a clutch 71.
