PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly prevent any failure such as malfunction of write discharge or the occurrence of maintaining discharge independently of existence of the write discharge. SOLUTION: This plasma display panel is provided with a front surface substrate 11 and a back surface substrate 12 which face with each other, a plurality of scan electrodes 13 and a common electrode 14 arranged on the front surface substrate 11 in the row direction, a plurality of data electrodes 21 arranged on the back surface substrate 12 in the column direction, and a display cell 23 placed in each crossing part of the scan electrodes 13 and the common electrode 14 with data electrodes 21. Write discharge and maintaining discharge of data are provided for the display cell to make the display cell emit light. In this plasma display panel, the display cell comprises a first part where the scan electrodes 13 face the data electrodes 21, and a second part where the common electrode 14 faces the data electrodes 21, and electrostatic capacity in the second part is set smaller than that in the first part. |
