PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To satisfy hear resistance, solvent resistance, definition, etc., of a color filter, to eliminate color mixing, color irregularity and color dropout and to improve the reliability with high definition by specifying the difference between the portion of the largest film thickness and portion of the smallest thickness in respective colored parts and the difference between the portion of the smallest film thickness and the film thickness of light shielding layer to a specific value or below. SOLUTION: Black matrices 2 are formed as the light shielding layers on a transparent substrate 1 and ink is imparted by an ink jet system to the apertures of the black matrices 2. The ink is cured by subjecting the ink to photoirradiation or heat treatment, to form the colored parts 4. The thickness t1 in the film thicknesses between the thinnest portions and the black matrices 2 enclosing the colored parts 4 is confined to <=0.5 μm, by which the differences in surface levels are decreased and the unevenness of the display grade when constituting a liquid crystal element is prevented. The thickness t2 in the film thicknesses between the portions of the largest thickness and the thinnest portions is confined to <=0.5 μm, thereby, the various densities and irregularity within the same pixels are confined to the extent of substantially eliminating the influence. |
