PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly reproduce a color print by obtaining three light source stimulated values of the bright spectrum of a light source, obtaining observed light tristimulus values at an observing point according to specified equations, and converting into color data suited to an output apparatus. SOLUTION: About the bright spectrum of m (m>=1) light sources illuminating a color print, light source tristimulus values are obtd. by a specified device independent color specification system. From the illuminance spectrum at an illuminated observing point, observed light tristimulus values by the specified device independent color specification system are obtd. according to equations using the light source trisutimulus values and converted into color data suited to an output device. In the equations Xϕi-Zϕi are three i-th light source tristimulus values, xb-Zb, Xs-Zs are first and second stimulus values coefficients of first and second reflection coefficients, Xe-Ze are ambient light tristimulus values, k, Cb, Cs, Ce are const.,θi,ρi are reflection angle of an i-th light source light and deviation angle of the reflecting direction from the observing direction and f(ρi) is a specified function ofρi.
