OPTICAL PHANTOM AND ITS MANUFACTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for manufacturing an optical phantom which faithfully expresses the objective section of a living body having intricate shapes and optical characteristics and lessens the light leakage to a photodetecting probe. SOLUTION: This optical phantom 11 has the phantoms of plural layers in which the phantoms of the respective layers arriving at the phantom of the outermost layer from the phantom on the innermost layer in the state of covering at least a portion of the phantoms of the layers existing on the inner side with at least portion of the phantoms on the layers adjacent to the outer side have optical characteristics in superposition. In addition, the optical phantom has a cavity 13 which allows the replacement of a packing material therein. The phantom 12e of the outermost layer is composed of the material having the elastic threshold higher than the elastic threshold of the phantom 12d of the layer adjacent to the inner side.
