摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to prevent the damage at the optical waveguide end faces of a semiconductor laser and an optical wavelength conversion element by coupling the optical wavelength conversion element and the semiconductor laser via a thin-film disposed therebetween. SOLUTION: This optical wavelength conversion device comprises the semiconductor laser (laser diode) 10 and the waveguide type optical wavelength conversion element 15 integrated with the semiconductor laser 10. The semiconductor laser 10 and the optical wavelength conversion element 15 are coupled to each other via the SiO2 thin film 11 disposed between both. The optical wavelength conversion element 15 is constituted by forming a periodic domain inversion structure periodically formed with domain inversion parts 17 where the direction of the spontaneous polarization parallel with the Z-axis of an X-cut substrate consisting of a crystal formed by doping MgO to LiNO3 which is a ferroelectic substance having a nonlinear optical effect is inverted on the substrate and a channel optical waveguide 18 extending along the periodic domain inversion structure.
