AUTOMATIC CHARGE RECEPTION SYSTEM FOR TOLL ROAD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ETC (automatic charge reception) system capable of accurately discriminating an ETC vehicle and a non-ETC vehicle and reducing a construction cost. SOLUTION: In this ETC system for executing radio communication between an antenna 13 installed at a toll gate and on-vehicle equipment loaded on a traveling vehicle 14 and automatically receiving a passing charge, a limited communication area is formed by narrowing the directivity of the antenna, a vehicle sensor 11 for detecting the vehicle inside the communication area is installed and the ETC vehicle/the non-ETC vehicle is identified depending on whether or not the vehicle responds by radio while it advances into the communication area and is detected by the vehicle sensor. Even in the case that a distance between the vehicles advancing to a lane is short, the respective vehicles are individually identified and the error of identification is evaded.
