摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid defective resolution due to occurrence of a fog or the like in an image forming system with a simple method in an optical system to read an image by using a scanner. SOLUTION: A scanner has plurality of reflection mirrors to optically scan an can original corresponding to an original platen on which the original is placed and reads the image by forming the image of the original onto a CCD 29 being a read means via an image forming lens 28. An image of a test chart consisting of a dot pattern is formed on the CCD 29 to monitor a change in an output of the CCD 29 due to a fog or the like in the case of forming the reflected optical image from the original onto a light receiving face of the CCD 29, and the resolution of the image is evaluated by obtaining an output state of each dot. In this case, the alignment of the image forming lens 28 or of the CCD 29 is adjusted so that the output state of the dot pattern of the test chart 30 indicates a well-focused output by the image forming lens 28.
