PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolytic capacitor which is high in sealing strength and can exhibit high sealing performance, by removing the partial reduction of thickness arising at drawing processing of a metallic case and/or crack occurrence, in the sealing of an aluminum electrolytic capacitor. SOLUTION: This capacitor is constituted such that a plug member 2 is arranged in the opening of a metallic case 3 having accommodated a capacitor element 1 together with an electrolyte, and that the sidewall abutting on the periphery of the plug member 2 of the metallic case 3 is provided circularly with a groove 3a having a roughly plane 3b for supporting the plug member 2. As a result, the contact area between the metallic case 3 and the plug member 2 increases, and not only the sealing performance increases, but also the sealing strength rises by sealing the sealing member 2 doubly from above and below.
