PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inspection apparatus by which the sealing performance of an airtight container is judged easily and with good accuracy. SOLUTION: This apparatus is an apparatus which is used to inspect the sealing performance of an airtight container having a head space between a filled object and a lid part. A chamber 5, a pressurization mechanism 6, a laser displacement meter 7 and a judgment part 8 are provided at the apparatus. In the chamber 5, the airtight container 1 can be placed at its inside, and its internal pressure can be adjusted. The pressurization mechanism 6 pressurizes the inside of the chamber 5. The laser displacement meter 7 measures a displacement amount near the center of the lid part at a first timing after the inside of the chamber 5 is pressurized, and it measures a displacement amount near the center of the lid part at a second timing after a prescribed time elapses from the first timing. The judgment part 8 judges the quality of the sealing performance of the airtight container 1 on the basis of a measured result by the laser displacement meter 7.
