PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a selective call radio receiver and its receiving method for executing channel retrievel during a period between the intermittent operation of individual call service and that of information service and receiving an information service channel. SOLUTION: The receiver is provided with a storage part 4 for storing information indicating the contents of the service such as an individual call service channel and an information service channel in a transmitting signal and a control part 5 for allocating priority to the service contents and detecting another service channel during the reception of service of higher priority. In the case of setting up the priority to the order of individual call service and information service, information service of lower priority is retrieved during the reception of the individual call service and then the information service is received, so that the individual call service having higher priority can be received independently of the reception of the information service.
