PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To judge the life of a photoreceptor by a simple system without being influenced by the black rate of recording paper by forming a toner image for deciding the life on the outside of a paper passing area on the surface of the photoreceptor, dropping and recovering the toner of the toner image from the surface of the photoreceptor and detecting the recovered toner. SOLUTION: An electrifying device 4 electrifies not only the paper passing area of the photoreceptor drum 1 but also the outside of the paper passing area. The latent image of a continuous line is formed on the outside of the paper passing area of the drum 1 by an exposure device 5. The toner is stuck also to the latent image of the continuous line so as to form the toner image by a developing device 6, A recovery container 3 is provided on the outside(one end) of the paper passing area of the drum 1 and recovers the toner image of the continuous line scraped by a cleaning blade 2. A toner storage amount detector 9 performs detection when the amount of the waste toner stored in the container 3 becomes a specified amount corresponding to the life of the drum 1. |
