PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate regulation of detecting sensitivity and to perform detection with high sensitivity, in a detecting mechanism for the valve opening/closing angle position of a rotary shaft arranged at a valve opening/closing device. SOLUTION: This detecting mechanism comprises a rotary shaft 3 rotatably supported by a bearing at a body 1; proximity sensors 5 and 6 for valve opening and valve closing disposed such that an axis is positioned in the valve opening and the valve closing angle of the rotary shaft 3 or in the vicinity thereof; and a detecting body 10 to operate the proximity sensors 5 and 6 rotated integrally with the rotary shaft 3. The sensors 5 and 6 form a high frequency oscillating type. The detecting body 10 comprises a column part 11 made of iron coaxially with the rotary shaft 3; a cover 12 of a ring body made of aluminum to cover the surface of the column part; and a window 20 formed in the cover. The sensors 5 and 6 are operated by the column part 11 made of iron exposed from the window 20 of the cover 12.
