PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the workability and reliability of a film processor. SOLUTION: In the case of a perforation detecting sensor 22 in this film processing method, its gain value is fixed and the light quantity value of a light emitting element 22a when the output of a signal amplifier 4 attains a detection level is detected and the value obtd. by multiplying this light quantity value by a presence or absence decision level ratio is determined as the light emission quantity of the light emitting element 22a. The light emission quantity of the light emitting element 22a is calculated similarly even in the case of a film front end detecting sensor 20. In the case of DX detecting sensors 24, 26, the gain values thereof are fixed and the smaller of the light quantity value of the light emitting element 24a, when the light quantity value of the light emitting element 24a and the output of the signal amplifier 58 attain the detection level when the output of the signal amplifier 58 attains the detection level, is detected. The gain value of the signal amplifier of the larger light quantity value is so regulated as to coincide with the other. The value obtd. by obtd. by multiplying this light quantity value by the presence or absence decision level ratio is determined as the light emission quantity of the light emitting element 24a.
