The electrically driven hammer drill (1), comprising of housing (2), chucks (3) and drill tool (4), is equipped with a specific control mechanism. A rotating knob (8), positioned laterally at the main housing, is used to start and stop the transformation of power into a rotary motion, while a push handle (9), located beside the knob, starts and stops the hammering action of the drill. The drill hammer (1) can be operated in a drill or in a hammering mode, or it can be used for a combination of both, depending on the position of the two control elements (8,9).
