The method includes the steps of an image reading process which reads image data with a lower resolution than a basic resolution in a scan process, and an image display process which displays the image data of lower resolution as a preview. An image is displayed with higher resolution than that of the preview through renewed scanning. A multiple image reading process is preferably provided, in which the image data are read through multiple scanning, after the preview was displayed. An Independent claims are included for an image scanning arrangement and a computer program implementing the method.
