An open/closed loop control device is described for the output power of a hybrid vehicle where an engine (2) and at least one motor/generator (1) are coupled so that the engine and the motor can be driven from one another and where the engine, a further motor (4) and at least one drive wheel (8) are coupled together by a clutch (3). There is a device (39,40) to increase or decrease the output speed of the engine. There is a sensor (11) which detects the output power of the motor/generator. There is a microprocessor (16) to control in open or closed loop fashion the device so that the output power of the motor/generator is equal to a certain output power when the engine is found in a certain operating state and the clutch is released.
