The system connects a set of cylinders and comprises a ring main with tapping pipes, which are inserted in the stoppers (5) of the cylinders to deliver or extract gas. A valve in the ring main is connected to a gas supply or reservoir. A seal formed completely of metal is formed between each stopper and a union boss (22) on the tapping pipe. This seal includes distorting faces (11,17), which are pressed against each other, and which are of metals having widely differing degrees of hardness. The boss can consist of a spigot with an axial bore (12), which fits in a socket in the stopper and leads to a gas channel (13). The spigot can taper in a cone at the end, and may have a partly spherical surface. |
